Dr. Michael Bruno, the founder of DocMJ, is a Board Certified internal medicine physician who
was dealing firsthand with the opioid crisis and wanted to make a change. He strived to find an
alternative to these prescription medications that were ruining his patients’ lives, so he began
looking into alternative options. Then, medical cannabis was put onto the ballot in Florida. He
began to research the potential qualifying conditions and how medical cannabis could help his
patients and in 2016, after the amendment was passed, DocMJ was founded.
We began with just a few physicians, a handful of administrative employees, and a few interns
in one office in Clearwater. Now, three years later, we have grown to over 90 employees and 35
physicians with more than 23 locations in Florida and 5 locations throughout Ohio.
Our growth is a tribute to the hard work of our home office team, the compassionate care of
our medical assistants, the care and empath of our outstanding physicians, and of course, the
thousands of patients who have entrusted us with their care. Without any one of these links,
our company would not have been able to grow and serve so many.
While we are proud of the progress we have made, we are even more excited to see what else
lies ahead. We have seen the relief that medical cannabis has provided to our patients which is
driving us to be the best that we can be. By continuing to dedicate ourselves to providing
affordable and compassionate care for those who seek the benefits of medical cannabis, we will
keep growing to meet the needs of qualified patients.
So, in honor of our 3rd birthday, we would like to thank all of our staff, physicians, patients, and
the MMTC’s for helping make DocMJ what it is today. We are looking forward to what the
future has in store for us all.
