How Georgia Medical Marijuana Telehealth Works

Four steps. All online. Most patients complete their entire medical marijuana certification in under an hour.

Step 1: Book your medical marijuana evaluation

Pick a time for your medical marijuana appointment that works for you. Mornings, evenings, weekdays. We schedule your medical marijuana evaluation around your life, not the other way around. You’ll fill out a short health history form before your medical marijuana appointment. It helps the marijuana doctor understand your medical situation and review your medical records before your appointment.

Step 2: Meet your Georgia marijuana doctor

Your medical marijuana appointment happens over secure video. You and a licensed Georgia medical doctor talk about your condition, your symptoms, what you have tried, and whether medical marijuana is right for you. These are real conversations with real medical professionals, not rushed 60-second approvals. If you qualify for medical marijuana, the doctor certifies you in the Georgia Department of Public Health registry for medical marijuana.

Step 3: We file with DPH for your Georgia medical marijuana card

After your medical marijuana appointment, we submit your certification to the Georgia DPH. You’ll get an email from the state with instructions for paying your medical marijuana card fee. The state charges $30 for the Georgia medical marijuana card, plus a $3.75 online portal service fee. You have 60 days to pay. Once paid, your medical marijuana card ships by UPS, signature required. Most patients receive their Georgia medical marijuana card within 10 business days.

Step 4: Your medical marijuana card arrives

When your Georgia medical marijuana card shows up, you can visit any licensed dispensary in Georgia. Bring your medical marijuana card and your state ID. That is it. If you’re 21 or older, SB 220 (effective July 2026) allows you to vaporize medical marijuana flower and use vaporizer products. Smoking and edible candy products remain illegal for medical marijuana in Georgia. We make sure you understand exactly what’s allowed with your medical marijuana card before you visit a dispensary.

Can New Patients Use Telehealth in Ohio?

Yes. Ohio allows the required annual physician visit to occur either in person or through telemedicine, and DocMJ offers remote medical marijuana evaluations for qualifying Ohio patients.

A new patient must still meet the same medical and program requirements as someone evaluated in person. The physician needs sufficient records and information to confirm the qualifying condition and complete a meaningful evaluation.

Telehealth does not allow patients to skip the physician assessment or state registry process. It simply provides a remote option to complete the required medical appointment before receiving a recommendation.

Can You Renew an Ohio Medical Marijuana Recommendation Online?

Returning patients can use telehealth to complete the annual medical evaluation required to renew an Ohio medical marijuana recommendation. The physician reviews your current health, treatment response, symptoms, medications, and any changes since your previous certification.

A renewal appointment is not only an administrative update. It allows the doctor to determine whether medical marijuana continues to be appropriate and whether your medical circumstances have changed.

Schedule the evaluation before your existing recommendation expires when possible. Completing the renewal early can reduce the risk of an interruption in your medical marijuana access.

What Technology Do You Need for a Remote Evaluation?

Most patients can attend a telehealth appointment using a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer. The device should have a working camera, microphone, speakers, and a stable internet connection.

    Before the visit:

    • Charge the device or connect it to power
    • Test the camera and microphone
    • Use a reliable Wi-Fi or internet connection
    • Allow any required browser permissions
    • Keep the appointment link available
    • Move to a private, quiet location

Joining a few minutes early gives you time to address technical problems before the physician begins the evaluation. If you lose your connection, follow the appointment instructions or contact DocMJ for assistance in reconnecting.

Where Can You Attend an Ohio Telehealth Appointment?

Attend your remote medical evaluation while you are physically located in Ohio. Choose a private place where you can communicate clearly with the physician and safely discuss confidential health information.

A home office, bedroom, or other quiet room is usually more appropriate than a public space. Avoid joining while driving, operating machinery, or performing any other activity that prevents you from concentrating on the consultation.

The appointment is intended for the patient seeking the recommendation. A parent, legal guardian, caregiver, or support person may participate when appropriate, but the physician must still evaluate and communicate with the patient as required.

What Your Medical Marijuana Evaluation Costs

We are upfront about medical marijuana pricing because hiding it wastes your time.

Our Georgia medical marijuana telehealth evaluation is competitively priced, and we offer payment plans to keep medical marijuana certification accessible. The exact medical marijuana evaluation fee depends on whether you’re a new patient or renewing your medical marijuana card, but we structure it so cost is never the reason you skip medical marijuana treatment.

Here’s what you pay, to us and to the state, for medical marijuana in Georgia:

    • DocMJ medical marijuana evaluation fee (new patient): Contact us for current pricing and payment plan options
    • DocMJ medical marijuana evaluation fee (renewal): Reduced rate for returning medical marijuana patients
    • Georgia DPH medical marijuana card fee: $30
    •  DPH online portal service fee: $3.75

The state fees for medical marijuana are the same no matter which marijuana doctor you choose. What changes is the experience you get for your medical marijuana evaluation dollar.

Real Care. Real Relief. Real Medical Marijuana.

That isn’t a tagline we slapped on a website. It is how we built DocMJ from day one.

We are physician-led. That means every decision about how we handle medical marijuana patients starts with a doctor’s perspective, not a marketing department’s. Our Georgia medical marijuana doctors are licensed, experienced, and committed to medical marijuana as legitimate medicine.

Over one million patient visits for medical marijuana since 2016. That volume teaches you things. It teaches you which medical conditions respond best to medical marijuana. It teaches you how to handle complex multi-symptom medical cases. It teaches you where medical marijuana patients get confused and how to clarify things before confusion turns into frustration.

We operate in six states for medical marijuana. Georgia isn’t a checkbox on a national expansion map. It is a community we serve, with its own medical marijuana laws, its own qualifying conditions, and its own patient needs. Our multi-state medical marijuana presence means we have seen what works across different regulatory environments and we bring that knowledge to every Georgia medical marijuana appointment. Our appointments are designed to fit your schedule, not the other way around.

Every patient receives individualized attention from a marijuana doctor who reviews your medical records, understands your medical history, and makes a real medical judgment about whether medical marijuana is appropriate for you. This isn’t a rubber-stamp operation. This is physician-led medical marijuana care.

Frequently Asked Questions About Medical Marijuana in Georgia

Is telehealth legal for Georgia medical marijuana evaluations?

Yes. Georgia medical marijuana law permits licensed physicians to conduct medical marijuana evaluations through telehealth. Your video medical marijuana appointment with a DocMJ physician carries the same legal weight as an in-person medical marijuana visit.

How long does the medical marijuana certification process take?

Most patients complete their medical marijuana evaluation in 30-45 minutes. After your marijuana doctor submits the medical marijuana certification, DPH sends your payment email within a few business days. Once you pay, your medical marijuana card ships in about 10 business days. From medical marijuana evaluation to medical marijuana card-in-hand, plan on two to three weeks.

What if the marijuana doctor says I don't qualify for medical marijuana?

You don’t pay the state fee for medical marijuana unless you’re certified. If our physician determines you don’t meet Georgia’s medical marijuana qualifying criteria, we refund your medical marijuana evaluation fee. There is zero financial risk in finding out about medical marijuana eligibility.

Can I use my medical marijuana card the same day I receive it?

Yes. Once your medical marijuana card arrives and you have your state ID, you can visit any licensed medical marijuana dispensary in Georgia immediately. SB 220 also allows medical marijuana patients 21 and older to vaporize medical marijuana flower, effective July 1, 2026.

Do I need to renew my Georgia medical marijuana card?

Yes. Georgia medical marijuana cards are valid for one year. We send medical marijuana renewal reminders before your card expires and make the medical marijuana renewal process just as simple as the first time, usually at a lower rate for medical marijuana patients.

What if I have more questions about medical marijuana after my appointment?

We don’t disappear once your medical marijuana card ships. Our support team answers questions about medical marijuana dispensaries, medical marijuana product types, medical marijuana dosage, and what’s legal under Georgia medical marijuana law. You are a medical marijuana patient, not a transaction.
