Most states in the US that have legalized Medical Marijuana regulate their programs using medical marijuana cards issued by the state after receiving a recommendation from a qualified MMJ physician. But here in Texas, there is no medical marijuana card.
DocMJ is the premier group of qualified Texas Medical Marijuana Physicians. We offer risk-free appointments over the phone, so if you do not qualify, we will issue you a full refund – guaranteed.
Why No Medical Marijuana Card?
In Texas, medical marijuana is prescribed more like a traditional medication is handled, without the use of a card. Qualified Doctors who have been approved to prescribe low-dose THC in Texas enter the prescription into a database known as the CURT monitoring system which is regulated by the Texas Department of Public Safety. By choosing not to have a medical marijuana card, the state requires more regulation, as well as more frequent follow-up visits between patients and their prescribing doctors throughout the year.
Once the doctor has confirmed the patient is a state resident of Texas and suffers from one of the qualifying conditions, they then register the patient and enter the prescription into the CURT system. After all of the necessary information is entered into the database, the patient can choose one of three available dispensaries to fill the prescription. Since state law does not require a medical marijuana identification card, the prescription on the medicine label acts as the required legal documentation.
Back in 2017, medical marijuana was first legalized under the Compassionate Use Act (CUA) but it was approved only for the treatment of intractable epilepsy. Since then, the CUA has been expanded by the legislature to include many more medical conditions.
Under Texas law, the following conditions are eligible for a medical marijuana prescription:
- Intractable epilepsy
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Parkinson’s Disease
- ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis)
- Cancer
- Autism
- Many Seizure Disorders
- Spasticity
- An incurable neurodegenerative disease
- PTSD
Filling Your Medical Marijuana Prescription
Once you have been prescribed medical marijuana from a physician, you can fill your prescription over the one with one of the approved dispensaries. Because these dispensaries are located mostly within the Austin area, they are legally able to deliver the medicine throughout any location in Texas.
There are currently only three dispensaries in Texas:
- Good Blend
512-351-4600
https://tx.goodblend.com/ - Texas Original
512-614-0343
https://texasoriginal.com/ - Fluent
833-735-8368

If you or someone you know is a permanent resident of Texas and suffers from one of the qualifying medical conditions listed above, a medical marijuana prescription may offer you the relief you’ve been looking for.
