This Saturday, July 13th, St. Petersburg, FL, will host Cannadelic 2024, an event poised to revolutionize the landscape of cannabis, psychedelics, holistic health, and biohacking.
Cannadelic is not just an event; it’s a movement bringing together industry professionals, enthusiasts, and thought leaders to explore and expand the boundaries of holistic wellness.
About The Event
Since 2014, the Florida Cannabis Coalition has been a driving force in the cannabis industry, with over 20,000 professionals, like-minded individuals, and industry leaders attending their events.
Recognizing the common ground between the cannabis and psychedelic sectors, the Coalition launched the first Cannadelic Miami Conference and Expo in February 2022 at the Miami Airport Convention Center.
The inaugural groundbreaking event attracted some of the biggest names in both industries, with over 8,000 attendees. The following year, the event grew to 13,000 attendees, underscoring its increasing influence and importance.
In July 2022, Cannadelic Miami Edu made history by holding an event at Florida International University, marking the first time such an event was hosted at a major university. This milestone highlighted the growing acceptance and academic interest in these fields.
Are Psychedelics Legalized For Medical Use In Florida?
As of now, psychedelics are not legalized for medical use in Florida. The legal status of psychedelics in the United States varies by state and substance. While some states have moved toward decriminalization or medical legalization, Florida has not yet followed this trend. Substances like psilocybin (found in “magic mushrooms”), LSD, and MDMA remain illegal under both state and federal law.
One psychedelic substance that is legalized for therapeutic use is ketamine. In recent years, in-clinic and virtual ketamine therapies have become popularized for mental health care. Ketamine was first approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for medical use in 1970. Initially, it was used primarily as an anesthetic for surgery and pain management. Its unique properties made it a valuable tool in both human and veterinary medicine.
Ketamine’s approval and subsequent use in mental health treatment have opened new avenues for addressing difficult-to-treat conditions, but it remains a controlled substance due to its potential for abuse and addiction. Its use is strictly regulated and typically administered in a clinical setting under professional supervision.

The Potential of Psychedelics for Patient Care
Despite the lack of legal medical use, there is growing interest in the therapeutic potential of psychedelics. Research has shown promising results for the treatment of conditions such as PTSD, depression, and anxiety. Clinical trials and studies are ongoing, and some other states have begun to change their laws based on these findings.
In Florida, there is a slow but noticeable shift in public opinion and advocacy for psychedelic medicine. Educational events, such as Cannadelic conferences, aim to raise awareness and educate the public and lawmakers about the potential benefits of psychedelics. These efforts could pave the way for future legislative changes.
